Small Indoor Water Fountains & How To Choose

Many of us look for ways to improve our home and surroundings without going through a lot of trouble or expense and small indoor water fountains are an extremely effective way to achieve this – with caveats. Unless you’ve spent some time working with these ideas it is likely you won’t be aware of the pitfalls surrounding the acquisition of a small indoor fountain. Here we discuss what to look for, and what to look out for in acquiring and placing small indoor water fountains in your home or office.

Practicality means that your fountain musn’t give you a lot of trouble in set-up or maintenance, and beauty refers to the visual and aural appeal of the fountain as well as the quality of the product. If it is poorly made or made of artificial materials it will not bring you the satisfaction you seek. More on this further down. Of course ‘beauty’ is partially subjective and you may love what someone else can’t stand but there are principles involved in beauty and we’ll discuss that a bit too. First we address practicality.

Small Indoor Fountains Need to be Easy to Clean

These stone fountains have, from the perspective of this article, two primary virtues. They are made of natural materials and they are fairly easy to clean. All that is required is regular (say, weekly) washing with warm soapy water and/or white vinegar. Why, if these are entirely of natural materials do they need regular cleaning, you might wonder.

Water in a fountain attracts everything, from small animals to the tiniest microbes and all creatures produce waste. In a fairly short time the water becomes less than fresh so needs to be replaced and the surfaces the water touches need to be cleaned of the microscopic residue that is left behind.

What these stone fountains might be lacking is sufficient aesthetic appeal.  Some might find a disharmony between the undulating tower of the centerpiece and the smooth surface of the bowl. Others might like the contrast. To each…However The naturalness of the material is a strong plus.
